Happy New Year to our readers! As we kick off 2026, the Editorial Board is pleased to share a welcome letter from the desk of our Editor-in-Chief. In this first letter, he introduces the new leadership team covering tech, politics, and finance, and outlines his hopes for American Intelligencer in the year ahead. We wish you a prosperous year and invite you to read his full message below.
Dear Readers,
As we ring in 2026, looking out upon a landscape vastly different than the one we inhabited mere years ago, I am both proud and humbled to write to you as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of the American Intelligencer: Go Deeper.
This publication has been in the works for almost a year, conceived in the energetic wake of President Trump’s ordained inauguration. We saw then, as we see now, that the American intellectual diet was suffering from a profound malnutrition—fed on surface-level takes and ideological conformity. Our mission, emblemized in our seal and logo, is simple yet demanding: go deeper, in profundum. We must go deeper, ever deeper, in search of truth, love, and justice. We are tasked to “enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain”—only then shall we speak.
The American Intelligencer—or AI, as we are somewhat playfully acronymed—exists to offer the critical perspectives sorely missing from the mainstream. We are here to serve as an antidote to the Coddling of the American Mind, to borrow Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt’s clever, memorable phrase, and to stand athwart the poorly informed, neo-Marxist empty rhetoric that has plagued, and subsequently captured, so many of our once-towering institutions. Whether we are dissecting the latest arXiv papers on large language models, analyzing the subtle propaganda in Hollywood’s representation of technology, or scrutinizing investment behaviors, however impressive or irrational, in Silicon Valley, our goal is to pierce the veil of the superficial. Indeed, it is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.
Building a fortress of truth is never easy. Personnel has been a problem; finding minds that are both brilliant and uncorrupted by the prevailing dogma is a task that rivals Diogenes searching with his lantern. But patience has borne fruit. I am thrilled to announce that we have finally secured five ironclad editors to form our primary board, covering Politics, Entertainment, Finance, and, naturally, Technology. We look forward to working with a fearless cadre of reporters, writers, and analysts who are ready to challenge the consensus. We are already profoundly grateful for the essays we have received and have begun the reviewing. You have made godeeper.ai possible, for which I am immensely grateful, and eternally indebted.
As I write this, we find ourselves not just at the start of a brand new year, but inside a pivotal historical moment. The United States, under the leadership of President Trump, has carried out the rather aptly named Operation Absolute Resolve. The American Intelligencer shares this spirit. Just as the nation reasserts its strength, we reassert the strength of the intellect. We are here to bring a true diversity of voices—not the sometimes comic, always cosmetic diversity of the left, but a diversity of critical perspectives that empower our readers and engender healthy, rigorous debate: Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed.
On behalf of the editorial board, I wish you all a very happy new year. Pro Veritate, pax America!
De profundis, ad fontes,
Ernest Kuznets
